I'm sure they've been "on the ground" even before the "no-fly zone". And most of them prolly speak the language and look like them. Especially if they plan to individually target forces that will open up an invasion of a town. They would need to gather personal intel with some of the rebel leaders and go out to scout and designate specific targets. Just if they die, they become one of the rebel casualties or something. That velcro patch with the US flag under it is just Hollywood BS. :p
I'm sure your are right!
Obviously there is no official comment (except for a couple of rescue operations to extract citizens), but some UK media stories indicate the SAS/SBS/SRR may have been on the ground for a month before the no-fly zone, which was pretty early, and there are around 400 there now. Plus, 800 Royal Marines (not special forces, but pretty good) are on notice for rapid deployment if needed.
Don't know about the US, but I expect it is a similar story.
Special Forces are obviously going to play a significant role, but won't get any of the credit!

I'm about ready to buy a 20" iMac but I want the new OS. How long do I have to wait?
I dont know for sure but isnt an OS upgrade with apple like $25 a piece in a family pack?
Why dont you get the computer you want now and in 6 months shell out the extra few bucks for Leopard.
Remember they arent Microsoft that charges an arm and a leg for windows.
p.s. This seems obvious. Am I missing something?

Well, the US controls the AWACS so that kind of says the US still prolly running a big part of the show in reality. Also the tomahawks are flying arround too. I would doubt US command is taking orders from the Canadians. I wonder if the US is purposly trying to "hide their face" given the fact that much of the muslim world resents them for leading the past 2 wars.

I told you all !!!! $499 headless Mac - here it comes and marketshare will grow...welcome back Apple !!
Sigh... Apple is already back.... and we don't need this petition any longer... and the mini mac has been in development for a long time (1 year plus) so the petition didn't do anything with it.
39 signers in this period of time means it failed, BTW.

Is this the same Narrator that does the Ken Burns films?
Yes. Peter Coyote was the narrator for Ken Burns' documentaries. He is the second person to speak in this clip:

If it's a wombat then you should go and see Apple's situation outside of America.
You shouldn't generalise... Apple is doing pretty well in Europe. Admittedly there are some things I would love to see change, but I don't care if other peoples purchase of MP3 players is funding the development of my favourite computers.
I would certainly agree that developing a set top box computer is a waste of time. Xbox and Playstation both considered introducing full browsing capability with their modems, but found that people want to use a computer to access the web and their TV to watch TV. Resolutions would be pretty low thus necessitating changes to the OS used... the whole thing is a wombat as said before.

No chance. The ergonomics would be a disaster.
Treat apps like widgets, which have been part of the OS 5-7 years. Allow touch or curser control.

In the meantime, Movielink already offers rental and purchase options, and I read that they will also be allowing you to burn your own DVDs, although I don't know the details.
This is from their site:
Seems to me the difference between this rumored Apple service and Movielink or Vongo or Moviebeam, et al, is analogous to the difference between the iTMS and Yahoo! Music, Sony Connect, Napster 2.0...
Apple just has a knack for getting it right, and it's by allowing the user the most control. I just don't see the service staying a rental-only venture for very long.

Galant desk (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S39837008) from IKEA.
Other things include juggling balls, dry-erase markers, an iPhone, and a card from my grandmother.
I've arm-mounted my display, but I should have arm-mounted my display and MBP as you've done. Only problem is that arm won't support my 28" monitor
I knew I should have gone with this (http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfh/monitor/monitor-dell-sp2309wfp/pd.aspx?refid=monitor-dell-sp2309wfp&cs=22&s=dfh) instead. My brother and father each have one, and they both love them. Only problem is Dell doesn't seem to sell them anymore. And when they did sell them, the price seemed to change every week-- usually somewhere between $200 and $350.

It may have been introduced then, but that wasn't the last time it was refreshed . See here (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/05/20060516092750.shtml) which is actually on May 16th.
Come on, apple updated the MBP before it even shipped! The pace of things are different nowadays.
the MBP WILL get C2D in the next ~2 weeks tops.

Geez.... what did they do long ago... have a 400-disc CD changer in their trunk?
How did they manage?
:)
Some of us have been on the planet long enough to remember when 8-tracks came to cars that previously only had AM radios. How did we manage? Actually, we got along fined but bringing my own audio along with us just provides more options. Before the iPod, I would typically pick about 15-20 CD's to bring along with me on a road trip. I got along fine, but invariably I would wish that I had made a few different choices, never knowing what mood might strike me. So now I have an 80GB Classic that is about 95% full. Loaded on it are about 11,000 songs, 50-60 podcasts, a couple audiobooks, and maybe a movie or two. Every time the car leaves town, it goes with me. I take it to work every day and plug it into the sound system in my office. I plug it into an old boombox when I am working in the yard or on house projects. I don't need it to surf the web, play games, read email or anything else. It serves my wants perfectly, and though I am not about to claim that I am in the mainstream, I suspect that there are enough of us to keep a device like this profitable for Apple. I've toyed with the idea of selling this one and buying a 160GB but haven't yet. If Apple does choose to make a classic with high capacity, bluetooth, and airplay, I would buy it in a minute.

I have to say I never heard of an "App Store" before Apple started one. Was there another before then?
When I open windows in my home an I running a PC?
App + Store? You're right, I personally didnt hear that combo until Apple started its iOS days.
I do feel though, that adding "store" to a term that was not invented (only popularized) by Apple does not justify trademark protection. Anyways, its laughable to think that Apple could lose any business to an "Amazon App Store" or a "Windows App Store"...if you have an iOS device, those stores are essentially useless to you. Stay frosty dude!

I disagree, take the price of a mini, add a good 17" monitor (4:3 (but not a super cheap one)) then compare the price to the 17" iMac. Not much difference and the iMac has better everything.
true ,but you could get dual monitors slightly cheaper... oh wait no graphics card, yeah what is up with the mini? it should be the coolest piece of hardware, but it has gotten no love. wheres all the love ?:p

There will be more media once there are more players, and there will be more players once there is more media. Which goes first? Players, naturally. Apple and the rest of the industry will just have to begin selling the players, and then the content will follow. Very soon I'd guess. The new Blu-Ray media can be sold at premium, so I think there will be a lot of discs to buy once certain threshold of players have been installed.
Well, PS3 will have Blu-Ray in it. And if PS3 is even moderately succesfull, it would mean lots of Blu-Ray-players in the market.
